The holiday season is a time for joy, celebration and gratefulness for me and Simon and our team at Promote labs Inc. BUT we also know not everyone is in the same situation as us around the world. Whenever I feel a little down, or ready to complain about something that’s not going right in my business, my life or my day, I find it helpful to take a step back and look at the big picture from a soaring eagle eye’s point of view.

I have this hanging up on my whiteboard in my office and thought it might be helpful to you as well. Count Your Blessings & Be Grateful …

  • If you can read this message you are more fortunate than 3 billion people in the world who cannot read it at all and blessed again because you have a computer.
  • If you have food in your fridge, clean drinking water, clothes on your back, a roof over your head and a place to sleep you are richer than 75% of the world.
  • If you woke up this morning with more health than illness you are more blessed than the million people who will not survive this week.
  • If you have money in the bank, your wallet, and some spare change you are among the top 8% of the world’s wealthy.
  • If you can attend any meeting you want, political, religious or social without the fear of jail or death, then you are luckier than 3 billion people in the world.
  • If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the agony of imprisonment or torture, or the horrible pangs of starvation you are luckier than 500 million people alive and suffering.
  • If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful for what you have, you are blessed because the majority can, but most do not.

After I read that I find it very hard to be upset, discouraged or stressed out due to some little thing that is trivial and will be forgotten about in the future.

Another thing I do every night (well I try at least to do it every night) is after I shut down my pc for the day I sit down in my favorite easy chair and journal.

(I also leave a list of 3-5 things to do the next day on a sticky note on my monitor so I can just forget about it until the next day)

I write down 5 things I’m grateful for that happened during my day. Many times these are just very simple things like a phone call from a friend or the sunshine and birds in our backyard. Other times they could be bigger such as a new business deal that went through or something amazing my sons or wife did that I appreciate.

Being grateful has helped me to reduce the daily worries and stresses I used to have before falling asleep at night (which is not healthy for you).

I then write my future diary for what I envision tomorrow will look like and happen for me. This helps me to put positive outcomes and results into my subconscious mind a few hours before I go off to sleep. When I wake up the next day I’m usually ready to dive into my day, happy to be alive and get to work to accomplish my goals for the day.

Another thing that helps be get through life and business is meditation for 20-30 minutes. I’ve been getting better at doing this everyday now and one thing that really helped was listening to the music of Jim Oliver while I mediate. He and his wife are lovely people and I’m fortunate to have gotten to know them. I met him while on a cruise a few months ago and since hired him to make some music just for me and it’s one of the most beautiful pieces of music I’ve ever heard so I now look forward to listening to it daily.

Another person who has helped me get through my life and build my business is a great man by the name of ‘Napoleon Hill‘. I first read ‘Think and Grow Rich‘ about 20 years ago. While most people have heard of this one and it’s very good, the book that really helped me the most is one that not many people every talk about (or have read it seems as I’ve never had anyone tell me they’ve even heard of it let alone read it) is ‘The Law of Success in Sixteen Lessons‘. It was written in 1925 and I discovered and read this in full about 15 years ago and have since re-read it again and again. I keep it handy on my bookshelf next to my desk for easy reference as well.

Many of today’s best known self help books take there core concepts form this book. Many of today’s self help coaches, thought leads and business coaches also take their basic premises from this landmark work.

I recommend getting from the source for less than $20. Once you’ve read this book you will understand what gives certain people an edge over everyone else. I can’t recommend this book enough and if you have some extra time off during the year end and looking for something to fill up your time, this is well worth it.

All the success, wealth and financial gain is nothing without your health though. (I make it a point to always remember that) One problem I found I was having the past couple of years was extreme dry, red, irritated eyes all day long. Not good for the line of work many of us are in using a pc, phone or tablet about 8-10hrs a day. I was using eye drops about 20 times a day it seemed so I finally saw a natural health doctor in my area who was finally able to shed some light on that to me.

He basically said my eyes were not getting enough nutrition and that our eyes need nutrients from 7 different colors everyday. So he prescribed me some natural herbs and eye care nutrition and they immediately got better – like within a few days.

After lots of research on the best, most natural supplements to take I now take a natural organic supplement for my eyes called ‘Eye Protector‘ along with a few other things I take from the ‘Synergy Company‘ every morning that help to keep my energy levels mentally and physically going throughout the day. Of course my family does our best to eat as healthy as we can everyday as well but sometimes that is not always possible when you’re on the go or have too much to do during the day.

I also wear a pair of ‘Gunnar tinted computer glasses‘. While I have been blessed with perfect 20/20 vision so far in life, my eyes would just go blurry sometimes after staring at my monitor for hours at a time – not anymore! They are really comfortable and really help prevent the eye strains & headaches I would sometimes get by the end of the day. In fact I just put them on automatically now as soon as I sit down at my desk to get to work.

And of course I make it a point to try to get some exercise everyday even if it’s just taking a 20-30 minute walk around the yard. In the winter months that is a bit hard so I go to our local fitness center a few times a week. (Also a great stress reliever as well) I go to my local Anytime Fitness cause I can go anytime, any day just like the name says.

Your health and wealth go together so make it a point to get them both solid and you’ll be thankful you did as time goes on.
