Are you looking for the best web hosting for WordPress?

Then you’ll want to check out our reviews for the following five webhosts:

Not only do we compare the most important features of all five of these hosts, we’ve even taken their support for a test drive. We’ll let you know the pros and cons of each and whether you’re getting good value for your web hosting for WordPress dollar.

Now before we jump into these reviews…

Here’s one quick note:

Some of these hosts offer shared hosting, while others offer VPS (virtual private server) hosting.

What’s the difference?

Shared hosting means that your site shares resources and space with other people on a single server. Because you are sharing resources, shared hosting plans tend to be less expensive than VPS plans. They also tend to be less secure, and sometimes what happens on one account can affect everyone else who’s on the same server.

VPS plans means that you privately own more of the disk space and resources. You will still share some resources with others in the network, but you get a dedicated amount of RAM that’s strictly yours. That mean no one else can use it up when you need it the most. End result?  VPS  hosting gives you more flexibility, security and control.

Of course when you have a VPS hosting plan, then you’ll either need some tech knowledge to run it, or you need to hire an administrator to maintain your account. That’s where fully managed WordPress hosting comes in. When you choose fully managed VPS WordPress hosting, the host will take care of most technical tasks for you.

Now, let’s take a look at some of the best hosting for WordPress…

LiquidWeb WordPress Hosting Review

Unlike some of the other WordPress hosting companies we’ve reviewed, LiquidWeb offers fully managed WordPress hosting. This means they’ll manage key tasks, such as updating your WordPress software and plugins.

Let’s take a look at what all you get…

Prices range from $29 per month to $149 per month for Business hosting.

LiquidWeb’s pricing is higher than others that we’ve reviewed, but that’s because this is fully managed WordPress hosting solution. Take note that third-party software is not covered under LiquidWeb’s fully managed support. LiquidWeb will give their best effort to install and troubleshoot third-party applications, but there are no guarantees.

Core Features

What do you get for these prices? Take a look…

Uptime: LiquidWeb offers a 100% uptime guarantee. This is stated right on their website, and we also verified it directly with customer service. One of the reasons LiquidWeb hosting can offer this guarantee is because they own rather than lease their equipment, which means they can constantly monitor and maintain it for peak performance.

Site Response Time: LiquidWeb support let us know that site response time depends on the content of your site. However, they do everything on their end to create lightning-fast response times for your website.

Backups: Here’s another feature where LiquidWeb differs (and in fact stands out) from the competition. That’s because they let you decide how often you want your site backed up. They’ll also retain backups for up to 90 days on request.

Support: You can reach the support team 24/7 by phone, email or help desk.

Hardware Specs: LiquidWeb offers SSD drives for all their managed WordPress hosting plans. Storage ranges from 100 GB for the smallest plan, to 450 GB for the largest plan.  All plans include unlimited visitors per month.

Software Specs: You can access your site through cPanel.

One-Click Install WordPress: Yes, this is available.

Free Migrations: Yes, this is available.

Here’s how they stack up to the competition:

BlueHost Web Hosting For WordPress Review

BlueHost has been in the webhosting game since 2003, so they’ve built up a good reputation over that time. They also pride themselves on offering the best hosting for WordPress blog users. Take a look out our BlueHost review to see if they have the features you need to run your business…

Promotional WordPress hosting pricing starts at $12.49 for the first month, and go up to $85.00 for the first month, depending on the plan you choose.

Here is the pricing structure for BlueHost’s VPS hosting plans:
Blue Host Prices-Web Hosting for WordPress

Take note that the promotional pricing is good for the first month of service.

Core Features

So what do you get for the price? Have a look at BlueHost’s core features…

Uptime: BlueHost does not offer any kind of uptime guarantee or statistics. That’s because uptime is based on a variety of factors including hardware failure, software failure, the client’s activities, infrastructure and more.

Now having said that, BlueHost does everything in their power to keep your sites up and running. What’s more, if you ever want to leave BlueHost because of downtime, you won’t be penalized in your contract with BlueHost. Not all webhosts offer this sort of exit clause.

Site Response Time: While BlueHost does work to optimize their hardware and software on their end to improve site load and response time, ultimately it depends on what sort of content you’re serving from your site.

Backups: In a chat with BlueHost support, they informed us that backups are the customer’s responsibility.

Support: BlueHost offers both 24/7 live online support, as well as telephone support. We tested the live online support, and wait times varied from two minutes to ten minutes.

Hardware Specs: BlueHost does not offer SSD hosting, which is the preferred (and faster) hardware. Instead, they give you HDD hosting.

The disk space and bandwidth you receive varies depending on what type of plan you purchase. Storage ranges from 30 GB of space for the entry-level hosting plan, all the way up to 240 GB of storage for the premium plan.

For their WordPress hosting plans they use visitors rather than bandwidth as a gauge. Visitors range from 100 million to unlimited, depending on the WordPress hosting plan you choose.

Software Specs: You can access your site using what BlueHost calls enhanced cPanel. This is an interface built on cPanel, but they’ve created an enhanced interface that gives you more tools and makes it easier to do the tasks you need to do to run your website. You can take this enhanced cPanel for a test drive on their website.

One-Click Install WordPress: Yes, this is available through the cPanel.

Free Migrations: No. However, BlueHost will help you migrate your site for an extra free, which ranges from $149 to $199.

Unique Features

Here are a few features that are somewhat unique as compared to other WordPress webhosts in its class…

  • SSL certificates are available on select webhosting plans. This is important if you’re collecting sensitive information on your website, including usernames, passwords, emails, addresses, payment information and more.
  • Free CDN (content delivery network). This is a network of proxy servers distributed around the globe, which improves deliverability and performance.
  • 24/7 support. This is a definite plus if you run into a problem at midnight. No having to wait until the support desk opens – just go to BlueHost’s support site and start chatting with someone immediately.
Who Can Use It

Anyone can use BlueHost, since they have a variety of plans to fit your WordPress hosting needs. This includes those who are dedicated bloggers, as well as small business owners.

Blue Host Dashboard-Web Hosting for WordPress

BlueHost: Pros and Cons

  • We like that they offer a variety of plans to fit your needs with a low-cost entry. This means you don’t need to pay for services beyond what you’re likely use.
  • You can easily upgrade as your business grows.
  • Clean navigation, so it’s easy to do what you need to do.

  • The WordPress hosting is pretty expensive for the limited core features that are offered.
  • While BlueHost has been around a long time, they also have a history of up and down performance.

Closing Thoughts On The Best Hosting For WordPress

So which of the five hosting companies offer the best hosting for WordPress?

As you can see, it really depends on what your needs are. But we covered all the points above including price, speed, VPS vs shared hosting, fully managed solutions and more. Depending on your budget, experience and needs, you should be able to find a WP host that’s a good fit for you.

Now here’s something else you’ll want to consider: diversification.

If you have multiple blogs or other websites, it’s not a good idea to put them all in the hands of one company. If a server or related infrastructure goes down, ALL your sites will go down with it. You won’t even be able to access your emails if they’re routed through your domain names.

That’s why you’ll want to spread your sites out among two or more of the hosts we covered in this review.

Not Just For WordPress…

While we reviewed these web hosting services targeted at bloggers who use WordPress, these hosting companies are not just for WordPress, of course.

Have a look over their sites and find what’s best for you even if you are not using WordPress for your websites.
